They tell me that we are supposed to do a Pres Kit/Band Biography.

Questions for Chris:

How do you feel about putting your music out for the public to hear?

I am generally a private person. However, I do understand that once you step up and make yourself public, whether as a musician putting music out there, or a public officer, or a leader, or an internet “influencer” or whatever, you do have a responsibility to your fans, as well as you now open yourself up to public scrutiny. If you aren't ready for that, then don't take on a public role.

Why did you pick your band name and how did you form your band?

I've had my own music production company for years called: CH7Music. My own music can be found on my own website. After collaborating with Eric and discussing band names with him, he said let's just use Channel 7 as a band name, and so we did.

Why did you decide to play the genre or genres you do?

I love all types of music from oldies to disco to pop to rock to punk to metal to hardcore to country to rap to EDM to goth to emo to everything in between. I've loved good music ever since I was a child. I was exposed to music through listening to my parent's records. My Uncle Mike had the Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks album, and I became hooked on punk from there.

I am not a fan of being pigeonholed into any specific genres. Music is an art form and I don't judge other people's art expressions. If it is something I don't like, then that's on me. It doesn't mean they're not talented. Who am I to judge how others wish to emote themselves.

So my answer would be: I write what I feel and enjoy hearing, if you enjoy it too than that's cool that we can groove on it together. If you don't like my music, that's cool too… nobody is making you listen to it - or are they.

     For Channel 7-

Eric and I both like rock and roll, punk rock and hardcore music, so I am intending to keep the music more heavy and raw here. My goal is to limit guitar solos and just stick to the raw emotion of the songs. However, I don't always follow the rules, and neither does Eric, so we may throw in some of our softer styles of music and maybe even some electronic music too.

I knew Eric writes songs, plays instruments and sings, and I had been quietly watching his YouTube for quite a while. So, I started writing some stuff with his vocal style in mind. I hit him up one day and said I was going to send him some tunes to check out and sing/write lyrics to, so I did. I sent him one that went nowhere (yet) and then I sent him a completed tune that I wrote and recorded in roughly a day.  He pumped out all the lyrics and sang them to the music and then sent his recording back to me. I was trippin’ on how cool it sounded. We called the song “My Mind” and it’s the first song we officially released. It’s here on this website too. Well, it will be.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Hmm. I would say it’s interesting. I literally write whatever I feel like writing, and I will do it in all genres of music styles too, styles that I mentioned I like. If I could use just one word to describe my own music, I would probably say, emotional. Now, that could mean; lovey-dovey, poppy, dance, trance, pissed off, rebellious, or whatever I felt like when I wrote it.

Do you write out your lyrics?

I always write out my lyrics when I write them for a song. I will also write out Eric's lyrics if he didn't write them down - (haha).

Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Hmm, I pick up inspiration from everything I see, hear, or feel. Yes, I also find inspiration from my past relationships as well as from the people and Women I meet along the way… and for the record - I am currently single too. If something seems familiar, it may be about you.

I don't personally have a usual songwriting process, and I do tend to write music/songs on any instrument I pick up. I literally have thousands of riffs, lyrics, songs, and vocal melodies.

    For Channel 7 -

I have been generally writing, playing, and producing all the music and sending the completed stuff to Eric. Once in a while I will give him a little vocal melody I was thinking about when I wrote the song. Sometimes he uses my lyrical melody and sometimes he doesn't. Generally he takes the music I write and puts his own lyrics and vocals and vocal melodies in there. As of right now, this is pretty much how we do it, simply because it is convenient. Eric does have his own songs that he wrote, sang and played all the instruments on, and I did add guitar to one of them.

The first song Eric and I finished together was "My Mind." I built the drum track while I was playing guitar to it, basically writing it as I went along playing the guitar riffs to it. I finished recording the song around 1:30 am. My laptop wasn't plugged in, and the battery died, so it shut off and I lost the drum track MIDI that I had built. I didn't lose the drum track because I had already recorded and played to it. So, what you hear is the raw recording of it. I can’t reproduce that exact drum track because I literally built each instrument sound the way I wanted it for that song. I do love the sound of it, like punk used to be back in the days, it's raw and rugged and so I kept it as is.

Do you have a Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter? Do you use Bandcamp, Spotify or SoundCloud to share your music?

Yes, we do. If we don’t have it yet, we will.

Do you think that online presence is important for fans to find you and critics to find your music to write about?

I would love to hear good feedback as well as any criticism of our/my music. I may consider incorporating some of what people have said when I make other new songs, and then again, I may not. I generally write what I want to hear and feel though. On a side note, I do think it is important to listen to people, and we can always learn something new from listening to others.

Anything you would like share, from new merch to upcoming shows/tours or songs/albums?

We are working on putting out more music. I would love for us to be able to play some live shows. I would be totally up for bringing in other musicians to play with us too, even if for just some live shows. Eric was doing open mic events, so he’s been getting some practice in, just not with our own songs.
